Memorial Day Weekend

We spent the weekend working on projects around the house. We (and when I say we, I mean Barry, his brother Andy and myself) got the shelves installed in Mike's room and my bathroom, the bench/toy box/bookshelf built and installed in Mike's room, the shelves and closet rods installed in Nathan's closet and (my contribution) my bathroom painted. My other contribution was to poly the shelves in the bathroom and Mike's room. All that is left on the shelves is to sand them and paint the cubby around them. I sanded the ones in my bathroom yesterday and they feel so very smooth. I need to sand Mike's this afternoon after the little boys leave and then he can load them up with his stuff. He will finally have a clean room. The next project is to make a reading loft out of the top bunk in Mike's room. Not a hard project, just a time consuming one. I'll put pictures up of all the finished projects when I get a chance to take them. We did take a little time out to celebrate Memorial day. We went to the cemetery where Barry's grandparents are buried and watched the VFW do the Memorial Day shooting of the guns. Not exactly thrilling, but entertaining enough for the boys.

My week

I have Jill's kids again this week and next week. Grannie had knee surgery and can't take the boys so I (being the ever nice sister-in-law) volunteered to help. Jill's boys look so forward to Nathan and Michael getting off the bus. It is the hardest part of the day. They want my boys to be home right when they wake up from their nap. (that hasn't happened yet, but they can keep on wishing.) Nathan went on a school field trip yesterday to the state capitol. (for those of you who flunked geography, it's Saint Paul) They saw the capitol building, a science museum and the historic Fort Snelling. He had a good time and came home all smiles. I think this is the first field trip that he has been on since 3rd grade. Unfortunately for me, he got home after 6pm and I had to keep telling Jill's boys that they wouldn't see Nathan today. that did not go over well with them. It was to hard for them to understand that Nate wouldn't be there to see them like he is every other day that they come over. Oh the joys of being to little to understand!!

End Of Soccer Season

It is the end of the spring soccer season here. Nathan's team had their last game yesterday. They came pretty far as a a team and I saw a lot of improvement. Michael's last game is tonight. His team is still learning to spread out and to pass the ball. But they also have improved since the beginning of the season. I can't wait to have my saturday mornings free from soccer games. This way we will be able to sleep in. (that is if you count sleeping to 7:30 am sleeping in.) We are up so early for school that saturday's it is nice to sleep in. The boys are looking forward to watching saturday morning cartoons again. They so hate giving them up for soccer.

College update

Yesterday I went to drop off a bunch of paperwork that the college needed so that I can attend. Things like shot records, forms that need to be filled out and signed, stuff like that. I also scheduled an appointment with the department Head of the College of Education. Today was the appointment. I must say that it was so nice to actually achieve my goal for the day. So I met with the department head and she was very very nice. She talked me through all my questions and the process of how to be admitted to the College of Education. I also asked for an adviser and was pleased to discover that the women I had been talking to volunteered to be mine. SO that is one less thing that I need to worry about. So far, things are going smoothly with enrolling in college. thanks for all of the family members (you know who you are) that have given me words of encouragement and support for deciding to go back to school.
