I hate insomnia! I used to blame it on Barry being deployed, but right now I have no excuse. Barry is tucked safe and sound in our bed, the kids are sleeping like angles in their beds, the thunder is a distant rumble in the night sky, and I CAN'T SLEEP!
Since the end of soccer season for the boys, all my days have blurred together. Nothing significant has happened, at least nothing that is coming to mind at this moment. Barry continues to plug away at work, the kids are enjoying their lazy days of summer, and I am slowly, quietly going crazy with the heat and humidity that comes in August in Minnesota.
By this time of the summer, we have exhausted all the fun things to do: swam until we are all prunes - well the kids have swum, I prefer sitting pool/lake side reading a good book while I listen to my children laughing, fighting, talking, and having fun - read all the new books that are really good, seen all the great summer movies, and had more than enough sleepovers for my taste. What is there to do now? We have another month until school starts! I think summers can be too long - well, from a parents perspective anyway!
As I sit here writing, I am listening to the sound of thunder fill the night air. We have storms approaching this night. In my opinion, the worst time to have storms is night because you cannot see their approach nor the damage that they do. I hope that the storm will both hit us and miss us! I love the rain that comes this late in the summer, but because of all the humidity, the rain is accompanied by severe storms - those I can do without. It is pretty to watch the lightening when it is far off, but the closer it comes, the scarier it can be. Oh well, I guess this is what late summer in Minnesota is all about!
