Sunday Morning Church

We went to church this morning with Barry's family. What a three ring circus we looked like. When we got there we sat in the back row and waited for the rest of the family to show up. As we were reading the bulletin, we discovered that you were supposed to leave the last 2 pews open for families with little kids. Since our kids are older, we moved up a few seats. Then Barry's sister came in and started talking to us. We saw her kids and the rest of Barry's family show up. They all sat in the last row, so we moved pews again so we could sit in front of them. We were playing musical pews!! All this time, we had to restart the marking of the hymns we would be singing. Nathan decided it would be better sit in the back pew with the cousins so he left. After the first hymn, Michael also decides to go sit in the back pew with the cousins. Then the fun really began. As Barry and I sat listening. we could hear the littlest cousin, Zachary laughing. It wasn't just one of those small chuckles, it was one of those big belly laughs. That's because Nathan was making funny faces at him. Only Uncle Tony didn't catch Nathan, all he heard was Zack laughing loudly. So Nathan was getting off scott free while Zack was getting in trouble. Then Grandpa stepped in, because he could see Nathan's part in the whole debacle, and settled the pair down. That's when Michael started to fan himself very loudly with the kids entertainment paper. So Barry took it from him and was making it into a quiet fan, but the bending of the paper was to loud for his mom so she poked him in the back to be quiet. A few seconds later we hear Michael tell Grannie about a contest that he is going to enter to try and win a family vacation. He saw it on the jelly jar that morning at breakfast and thought it was the prefect time to mention it to Grannie. It didn't matter that it was the middle of a quiet part in church. His little voice chirps up, "Grannie, when I get home I am going to enter this contest..." Now church this morning was a little crazy because it was Palm Sunday and there were 3 boys getting confirmed. In this church to be confirmed, you had to write a short essay and deliver it as a speech during the service. So these 3 boys got up one at a time to give their speeches. Not a single one of them had ever spoke in public before. As they each got up to the podium, they would take the mike. The very first one didn't have the mike turned on. Then you couldn't hear him because he held it so far away from his face. The second one got up and his voice sounded like a trombone being blown. You couldn't understand a word he said. The third kid started great. You could hear him, until he got nervous and father into his speech. He then dropped his head so he could read his paper. In doing so, he dropped the mike to the podium and forgot to use it. Oh well, our own kids were entertaining enough to us. At about this time in the service, Michael decided that it would be great timing to ask Barry a question. As everyone was straining to hear the speaker, his little voice was heard through out the church "Dad, what size shoe do you wear?" Needless to say, church was a blast today!
